And I quote: If you don’t come to the [tenants organization] meetings, don’t ask us what happened,” Barksdale said.

What about the many of us who have to work or go to school? How do we receive information that seems to be kept in such strict confidence? Why is it that when you ask any questions in relation to meetings and such we are kept out of the loop?

Sure you want to live here? Sure why not. We use to be a big family here. because of the greedy, racist owners we can't even sit outside anymore. our children can't play outside anymore. we were told its because of the different cultures. if you don't like our culture then you should not have come here. in regard to 3333 broadway, they were owned by bsr management, a corporation of racist vile people. did they change their name from bsr to urban american? why is it that everyone from urban american are british?

sure there have been many renovations made to the outside of the building but the inside is falling apart. rats, bedbugs, break ins by members of the maitenance crew are often. we are told we cannot sit up on the plaza because it is dangerous and in need of repair. it sure would be a terrible thing if the people from northside center were to have an accident because of the conditions up there. why are these people allowed to play and sit where we are told we can not? maybe urban america should reconsider and stop trying to change things they cannot.

we are schomburg plaza, your "heritage" is not ours. re reject you. now go away.

This is total yellow journalism. First, Section 8 tenants always pay 30% of their income, regardless of the amount of rent. The rest of the rent is paid from our tax dollars. The rent might get higher, but they always pay the same percentage of their income. In other words, Barksdale and other Section 8 tenants are only paying more if they earn more.

Second, what is the U.S. State Senate?

Third, it's Schomburg, not Schomberg. If the author actually went to the building - or just looked it up on the internet - he would know this.

Speaking of Schomburg Plaza.... Have you seen that place lately? I walk past it every day. The owners have totally renovated its lobbies and plaza. It doesn't seem that these "owners refuse to make repairs".

I love the last part: "If you don't come to our meetings, don't ask us what haooened." Classic. This is all nonsense, these people don't care about each other, or over a cause bigger than themselves. This woman probably just wants free rent for herself. I live across the street from that building, it looks like they've been doing a lot of work to it. I wish they would buy my building.
